Artemis III
The return. A crew descends to the Moon's south pole — the first bootprints since 1972, on ice that may fuel the journeys after.

A journey in eight scenes
A short film about leaving home — told at the speed of your scroll.
Scene 01 — The overview effect
Astronauts call it the overview effect — the quiet rearrangement that happens when you see Earth hanging in the dark, whole, and small enough to cover with your thumb. No one comes back the same. The journey out, it turns out, was always a journey inward.
Scene 02 — The beginning
1957
A 58-centimetre sphere beeps from orbit, and the ceiling of the world quietly moves.
1961
Yuri Gagarin becomes the first human to see the whole planet from outside it.
1969
Two people stand on the Moon while six hundred million watch from home.
1977
Twin probes leave for the outer planets. Half a century on, both are still calling back.
1990
An eye lifted above the atmosphere rewrites every textbook it touches.
1998
A home in orbit — continuously inhabited for more than a quarter of a century.
2021
A mirror cold enough to watch the first galaxies switch on.
2027
The next bootprints on the Moon — the first since 1972.
Scene 03 — Sea of Tranquility
Between 1969 and 1972, twelve humans walked on another world. Their bootprints are still there — no wind, no rain, nothing to erase them for a million years. The Moon keeps a perfect memory of the briefest visit we ever paid.

384,400 km from home

Scene 04 — Beyond the map
“We used to look up and wonder about our place among the stars.”
“Out here, distance is measured in lifetimes and light.”
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff.”
— Carl Sagan

EVA suit — 14 layers · internal pressure 4.3 psi
Scene 05 — The traveler
Every mission is carried by something almost absurdly fragile — a person. The suit is a wearable spacecraft: fourteen layers, its own atmosphere, its own weather. But the only part that actually explores is the heartbeat inside it.

Beneath twenty kilometres of ice, Europa hides an ocean with more water than all of Earth's seas. Clipper flies fifty passes to ask if anything is home.

A nuclear-powered rotorcraft that will fly across the orange haze of Titan — a world with rivers of methane and the chemistry of a young Earth.

Dark matter & dark energy — 95% of everything, still unseen
Everything every telescope has ever photographed — every star, galaxy and world — is less than five percent of what exists. The rest is dark matter and dark energy: an invisible fabric the cosmos moves on, bending light around it, holding galaxies together, pushing space apart.
